Jai Seeta Ram.

Hanuman SathkAram :

Holding the crest-jewel brought by Hanuman in His bosom, Rama felt Seeta is standing before Him and wanted Hanuma to tell once again what She said.  Hanuman narrating the whole story repeated the words of Seeta as to whether Rama is indifferent towards Her? Why has He not come to kill Ravana or why has He not sent Lakshmana for that matter? What is that She has committed to lose His love? She rather doubted how the Vanara army could cross the sea? If Rama destroys His rival army, filling the entire Lanka with arrows, it will be quite worthy of Him - exasperated She, said Hanuma.

Rama's heart and eyes overflowing with emotions felt short of means to adequately reward Hanuman for the solace and joy he brought to Seeta and to Himself. Then offering to clasp him, took to His arms holding him in tight embrace.

Andal NachiyAr in Her Thiruppavai  verse 27 mentions the same as  '' யாம் பெறு சம்மானம் - நாடு புகழும் பரிசினால் நன்றாக '' 

பாரோர் புகழ - சஞ்சயனும் சுகஸாரணர்களும் இவனுடைய ஆச்ரிதபக்ஷபாதத்தைப் புகழ்ந்து பேசினாப்போலே நாடு சிரிக்கும் படி அவர்கள் வேண்டிற்று பெற்றபடியை ஸ்மரிப்பது.

Here the anecdote concerning a Hindustani Musician who came to SriRangam for a vocal concert in the presence of NamberumaL is worth recalling. 

After rendering his music, Azhagiya ManavaLan ordered HisKaingaryaparaL  to take Him few steps, resting in their arms - what is otherwise known as கைத்தல சேவை.

The Lord is known for His unparalleled gifting qualities, such as the one to Hanuma in this:

ஏஷ ஸர்வஸ்து  பூதேஷு பரிஷ்வங்கோ ஹனூமத:

After reflecting a while, Rama worried how can these monkeys reach the southern bank of the ocean with so much water therein ? and felt miserable in anguish. Sugreeva advised Rama to give up His apprehensions that diminish the might of a man, expressing that the monkey squads they have are gallant and efficient in every respect. When the army crosses the sea with the building a bridge across it, they will emerge victorious as the monkeys are able to change their form at will.

On hearing the words of Sugreeva, Rama asks Hanuman to describe Lanka in detail, which Hanuman obliges, as he saw it. Rama then fixes the auspicious date for the departure of the army towards Lanka.

Planet Phalguni in conjunction with Star Hasta the next day will be inauspicious being a vadathArai and so ordered His troops to depart the very same day they were looking to move. That day being marked by star Uthiram and the moment marked as ''Abhijit'' muhurta. . It was in this moment called ''Vijaya'' the Lord Vamana descended on earth as a child prodigy to sage Kashyapa & Aditi. The same day saw the Lord transcend the three worlds with the feet risen above. 

Rama mounted on the shoulders of Hanuma and Lakshmana on the shoulders of Angada moved towards the southern direction along with the army.

Sugreeva the King of monkeys, Rama and Lakshmana moving at the centre, Satabalai accompanied by tens of crores of monkeys guarded them all. That large army marched like an ocean with great roar of sound. The Visakha star shining without any evil interference and  the trees all through the forest bearing fruits and flowers signalled good omen  

The extensive army marching through day and night, passed through the western ghat encompassing the mountain ranges namely Satyadhri, Malayadhri, Neeladhri, Mahendra Giri and Velavanam along the southern tip of Coumarin peninsula. 

Rama mounted on the peak of Mahendra Giri encountered the ruffling sea waters ahead. He quickly descended down and ordered to take a deviated route through the woodlands of Velavanm to reach the ocean with rock bed and boulders beneath, a place suitable to get to the other side of the shore.

The army stationed there resembled another ocean in contrast. The foaming waves of the sea seem to welcome them all with a glittering teeth of smile.  

With the rising of the Moon in the night and the stars glittering like pearls in the darkness of the sky, Rama relapsed to melancholic mood lamenting about Seeta's separation while Lakshmana consoled Him, until daybreak.

''தம் ப்ரஹ்மாலங் காரேணாலங் குர்வந்தி'' என்று விரஜைக்கு அக்கரைப் பட்டாரை எம்பெருமான் தன்னை ஒப்பிப்பாரை இட்டு ஒபிக்கக் கடவன். ஆனால் ஹநூமானுக்கோ ''கோயில் கட்டணமான'' பிராட்டி வாச ஸ்தலத்தை அவருடைய பிராகிருத சரீரத் தோடே ஒப்பித்த பாக்யம் அவனுடைய பெருமைக்கு சான்று ஆகும்.

ஸர்வ பல பிரதோஹி விஷ்ணுஹு: என்றும் 

தன்னையே தமர்க்கு நல்கும் கற்பக விருக்ஷம் என்றும் 

பேசப் படுமவனான பகவான், ஹநூமானுக்கு  செய்த சத்காரம் போலே நமக்கும் செயவல்லனே !!

Jai Seeta Ram.

Drushta Seeta : 

After offering salutation to Sugreeva and to glorious Rama and Lakshmana, Dadhimukha returnrd to Madhuvana and informed Angada that his uncle was pleased to hear the arrival of the leaders of monkeys and indeed even after hearing that the Madhuvana having been attacked, he did not develop any anger.  He has asked me to send all the monkeys to his place, so do I, he said. 

Angada assuming that Rama might have heard the news of their arrival thought that it will not be proper to stay there any longer and all the monkeys having taken rest and drinking honey to their hearts brim, what remain to be done is to go and meet Sugreeva and appropriately gave the command to leave immediately.

Where Jambavan is the leader, Angada its the Commander and Hanuman is the Executor, Seeta must be seen. There is no doubt said Sugreeva to Rama, thrashing his tail on the floor in joy.

Lead by Hanuman and Angada, the monkeys all landed near Prasravana the hill where Rama and Sugreeva were assembled.  The monkeys one by one greeting Sugreeva and bowing their head before Rama started narrating the news of Seeta.  Asked whether they met Seeta by themselves, they urged Hanuman to narrate to Rama the incidents because he only did see Her. 

Saluting towards the direction where Seeta is, Hanuman explained how he saw Seeta. Crossing the hundred yojana ocean, Hanuman said he reached the southern shore looking for Seeta in Ravana's city of Lanka. I saw your virtuous wife Seeta in his pleasure garden, entertaining Her longing for you and turning back the evil desire of Ravana. She having decided to die, I could stop that narrating the glory of  Ikshvaku dynasty. 

கண்டனென் கற்பினுக் கணியினை  கண்களால் 

நற் பெருந்தவத்தள் ஆய நங்கையைக் கண்டேன் அல்லேன்;

இற்பிறப்பது என்பதொன்றும், இரும்பொறை என்பதொன்றும்,

கற்பெனும் பெயரதொன்றும், களிநடம் புரியக் கண்டேன்.

--கம்பராமாயணம் பாடல் 25, 29.

Thus Hanuman said : What he saw there was not Seeta, But - Her Class birth, Endurance and Chastity - all the three seated in penance endowed with devotion to Rama was witnessed said he truly.   

As a token of remembrance she narrated the story of Jayanthan, the crow-event that took place during Rama's stay at Chitrakoota and by sending Her jewel for the forehead as a token of remembrance of one more incident of marking red-rock-sand in place of the one wiped out by Rama unintentionally. Hanuman said : I offered to carry Her on my back to your place but Her heart longs for you to come and rescue Her. She said She will sustain a month and not a day more and therefore let us cross the sea and reach there to save Her.

Seeta demonstrating the essence of ''SaraNagati'' in other words the belief that the Lord should come to rescue Her and She labours nothing towards this defines ''Surrender'' in its full form with its five complementing acts: 

1. ஆனுகூல்யஸ்ய சங்கல்ப்பம் ;

2. பிராதிகூல்யஸ்ய வர்ஜனம்;

3. ரக்ஷஸ்யதீதி விசுவாச:

4. கோப்த்ருத்வ வரணம் ததா 

5. கார்பண்யம் .

2. உக்தி நிஷ்டை - ஆசார்ய-சிஷ்ய உச்சாரண-அனுச்சாரண முகநே ஆகவல்லது.

3. ஆசார்ய நிஷ்டை - ''பிதாமஹம் நாதமுநிம் விலோக்ய பிரசீத மத்விருத்திம் அசிந்தயித்வா'' என சிஷ்யனுக்காக  ஆசாரியன் பண்ணுமது.

 

உபாயாந்தரங்கள் - தன்னையும், மற்றொன்றையும் பொறுக்கும்.

ஈஸ்வரன் தன் ஒருவனையே பொறுக்கும்.

பிரபத்தி இரண்டையும் பொறாது. 

உபாயப் பிரபத்தி '

'நியாசம்'' என்று சாங்க பிரபத்தியாயும் ; 

பக்திக்கு அங்கபிரபத்தியாயும் - இரண்டு வகை.

அனுபாய பிரபத்தியாவது - பிரபத்தியை உபாயமாக்குவது அபராத கோடியிலே சேரும் என்பது.

ஆக, விடுவித்துப் பற்றுவிக்கிற ஈஸ்வரனே உபாயமாகும். 

பிச்சை எடுத்தானாம் பெருமாள், அத்தைப் பிடுங்கினாராம் ஹனுமான், என்பது பழமொழி. 

அதாவது ''சேதன லாபம் ஈஸ்வரனுக்கே'' என்கிற ''ஆத்ம ரக்ஷண  வியாபாரம் பகவானுடையதாக இருக்க, சீதையினுடைய ரக்ஷணத்தில் ஹனூமான் யத்தனிப்பது அவன் தொழிலை விலக்குவதாகும். 

அதற்கு அவகாஸபிரதானம் பண்ணாதபடிக்கு சீதை நடந்தது பிரபத்தி சாஸ்திரத்துக்கு பண்ணின விளக்கவுரையாகும்.

Moved by what Hanuman said Rama holding the jewel in his bosom began to weep, uncontrollably. Seeing the jewel, Rama felt as though he got the sight of Seeta Herself. If Seeta can survive for a month means She is surviving for long. Without the black eyed Seeta I can not survive even for a moment. Take me to where She can be seen, Rama wailed asking what my sweetheart has to say sweetly, being separated from Me? 

Andal too in Her Nachiyar Thirumozhi (பதிகம்-12) expresses the same sentiments as Rama does here :

மதுரைப் புறதென்னை உய்த்திடுமின் ;

ஆய்பாடிக்கே என்னை உய்த்திடுமின் ;

யமுனைகரைக்  கென்னை உய்த்திடுமின் ;

பொய்கைக் கரைகென்னை உய்த்திடுமின்;

பத்த விலோசனத் தென்னை உய்த்திடுமின் ;

பாண்டி வடத் தென்னை உய்த்திடுமின்;

கோவர்தனத்தே என்னை உய்த்திடுமின் ;

துவராபதிக் கென்னை உய்த்திடுமின்;

--என்று ஆண்டாள் கண்ணனுள்ள விடத்தில் தன்னைக் கொண்டு விடும்படி உற்றாரை வேண்டினபடி நோக்கலாம்.

The longing by the ParamAtman for Atma samslesham is perceptible to what the Soul attempts, as the saying goes

ஸ்வம் ஆத்மநி   ஸம்ஜாதம் ;

ஸ்வாமித்வம் ப்ரஹ்மணி ஸ்திதம்.

Hanuman describing Her miserable state puts forth Her request asking Rama, Lakshmana and Sugreeva to destroy Lanka together with Ravana and his army and take Her back to Ayodhya. ''If Rama is eager to save me, let Him kill Ravana in the battle quickly with His sharp arrows. Why not they paying attention when they are capable of the same? Without doubt I have done some impure act'' -- Seeta blames Herself for all that happened to Her, although is not culpable of any intentional ones, She claims to have done two unintentional ones : They are :

1. பிரயோஜனாந்தர பரதை -- in respect of the Maya-miruga &

2. பாகவதாபசாரம் -- towards Lakshmana.

''அஸ்ய ஈஷா ஜகது, விஷ்ணு பத்நி''  என்கிற பெரிய பிராட்டிக்கும் இத்தகைய குற்றங்கள் ஏற்படுமாகில் அவைகளின் க்ரூரதைக்கு இவை பிரதீகமன்றி பிராட்டிக்கு குறை அன்று.

Killing Ravana with his relatives in the battle, Rama will certainly take you to the city of Ayodhya -- Rama returning from exile will be anointed the Crown of Ayodhya along with you. The soothing words spoken thus by me, Hanuman explained Rama that peace will return to Her. 

Hanuman speaking about himself to Seeta asked Her to  consider him the least of the powerful monkeys in Sugreeva''s army. This is not true but are simply the words of modesty by Him. 

So also 

Less desire ( பொருளளவில் எளிமை);

Noble thinking ( மனதளவில் எளிமை) &

Simple living ( உடலளவில் எளிமை) 

will make us worthy of Rama Bhakthi and Hanumath Krupa.

Madhuban's masquerade -- outlet channel for Vanaras :

(மதுவனம் உண்டேல் ராமன் முதுகு பிழைத்தது)

Hanuman offering salutations to the direction where Seeta is held prisoner, narrated his journey from start to its boastful finish - the one of takeoff and return jump to Mahendra Giri, where the Vanaras are gathered listening to him.

First the rising of the golden mount, Mynaka from the sea, offering rest and recuperation to Hanuman while on course to Lanka, 

Surasa, The Naga-maid, intruded his way to swallow him;

Simika-a-shadow catcher failed to stop him and he successfully landed near Trikoota parvada in Lanka and Hanuman overpowering LankiNi, the Goddess protecting the city;

searched for Seeta in the dark and ultimately found Her at Asoka park;

RavaNa, arriving in the morning hours, exhibited his filth for Seeta and upon Her frowning retard, he ordered the 700 demons to torment Her;

offering Rama's signet ring in exchange for Seeta's crown jewel;  Hanuman seeking a date with the King, ravaged many in combat and
escaping death penalty by the advice of VibeeshaNa, set Lanka ablaze paying in their own coin and
after a final meet with Seeta,
jumped back to the north coast with ease on physique and accomplishment in heart.

Thus Hanuman recounted the happenings in the same sequence as they happened without omission from the time of his crossing and recrossing the sea to Lanka.

After hearing all that, the Vanara Prince Angada as well as Nila, Mainda, Dwivida, Aswini kumaras all suggested ''why not we go to Lanka and restore Seeta to  Rama after destroying RavaNa?'' Hanuman rejecting the idea said that Seeta herself could have reduced him to ashes, if she wished. But she endured all that because She wanted the punishment to be meted out by Her Lord and not by Herself or any of us. No doubt that there are many among us who can kill RavaNa. But Vaidehi with aches in Her heart is pinning hopes on Her Lord's speedy arrival. Her purity can guard Her. Even Rama is an instrument in its hands, in witnessing the end of Ravana. As messenger of Rama and a minister to Sugreeva, I shall stick to the limits. So consider what shall be done next'', suggestively concluded Hanuman.

Jambavan's words prevailed.  Being old and wise he suggested ''we should report everything to Rama and Lakshmana and let us act within the realms of their wish and directions''. 

All the Vanaras, including Angada and Hanuman thought this was the right thing to do and thereafter acting in unison, they disbursed towards Kishkinda. En route they all alighted and gained entry into the well protected Madhuban. The guards resisted but the Prince and the Minister being on their side, they all ate the fruits and drank honey relentlessly, almost destroying the park of its beauty and demeanour. 

Dadhimukha, the keeper of the park and uncle to Sugreeva, perturbedly left to meet the King to lodge a complaint that the Vanaras who went south have returned and in a state of mirth are destroying the park senselessly and that the King need to restrain them with suitable punishment.

Turning to Lakshmana, Sugreeva said ''Hanuman, Jambhavan and Angada are celebrating the successful completion of their mission. Having known the severity of my punishments, their audacity to  lay waste the garden, the one close to my heart, leaves no doubt that they have met Seeta and that Hanuman, the intellect, mighty and the dare one amongst them would not fail my orders'' . So saying he advised Dadhimukha to get back and inform all Vanaras about the King's desire to meet them.

Dadhimukha realising the situation returned swiftly to the park and conveyed the King's desire to meet them all. 

The path Rama walked from Ayodhya to Sri Lanka, in fulfilment of His father's command,  is sacred to all of us while the life He lived and the values He eschewed are all the more sacrament and imbibing the same in ones life will embellish the character and quality in them.

பண்பு டையார்ப் பட்டுண் டுலகம்; அதுஇன்றேல் 

மண்புக்கு மாய்வது மன் . (திருக்குறள் - 996)

The world is built on the wisdom of the noble and the good. But for them this world is a worthless tinsel.

Hanuman leaps back to Mt. Mahendra :

உல்லங்க்ய ஸிந்தோ:ஸலம் ஸலீலம் 

ய: ஸோ கவன்ஹீம் ஜனகாத்மஜாயா:

ஆதாய தேனைவ ததாஹா லங்காம் 

நமாமிதம் ப்ராஞ்ஜிலிம் அஞ்சநேயம் 

It may look as though the fire the demons set to the tail of Hanuman burnt down Lanka. It is not really so. The distress due to separation from Rama, causing fuming breath (விரகாக்நி) in Seeta had only scorched the island Nation and Hanuman who made it happen, we hail with folded hands in devotion. 

Hanuman wanting to put out the fire in his tail, plunged in the sea and at the same time realised that Seeta too must have perished in the inferno he created. Considering it a shame on his part, he decides to end his life. Right at that time the ethereal voice above said Seeta is safe and relieved by their saying, Hanuman went straight to meet Seeta at Ashoka Vana. This fire which Hanuman started could not anyhow go near Seeta. He bowed before Her and sought permission to leave Lanka, as his staying further will invite trouble to Her. She regretfully cursing Her luck said that like Rama, Hanuman too will go back leaving Her in distress.She made it clear that She will be able to hold on to Her life for another month hoping Her Lord would reach Lanka within that period to redeem Her, killing the Rakshasas.

''Sugreeva will be soon there with Rama and Lakshmana so also his army of vanaras. Ravana and his men will sccumb in no time to Rama's arrows and He will return to Ayodhya with you, grieve not'' - Hanuman consoling Her so, took leave and reached the hill-Arishta to set off on his return journey.

Hanuman realising the urgency to meet Rama, ascended that mountain, grew in size and kicked off towards northerly direction. With the jolt created by his kick the trees with bloom fell apart. The caves got crushed spewing water around. The Kinnaras, Nagas, Gandharvas, Yakshas and the Vidyadharas all fled the tormented mountain annoyed as though some calamity has struck.

Sage Valmiki in his poetic frenzy draws analogy to the sky in terms of the vast sea Hanuman leapt. The lotus and the lily flowers that decorate the waters are the Yaksha, Gandharva, Nagas and the Moon that occupy the sky. The Sun is comparable to the Waterfowl (நீர்காக்கை), a sea bird found in the ocean waters. The celestial objects named Poosam, SravaNam and Swathi are the Swans and the Hamsa birds, Punarvasu the fish while Marscorrespond to the Crocks in the deep sea. Patches of clouds are equivalent to the seaweed and the algae seen at shallow lagoons. The celestial elephantIravath is the island at distant ocean while the  wind current blowing above are the lashing waves near the shores. The pleasant moon light sprawling over the sky is analogous to the  cool waters of the ocean.

Hanuman with green complexion, sporting white attire passing through thegray  cloud bank in the backdrop of blue and tangy yellow sky reveal aVIBGYOR (வர்ணஜாலம்) of great charm.  

On the way Hanuman saw Mynaka eagerly awaiting him. He affectionately stroked it with his hand, but did not stop. He flew past it like an arrow shot from a bow. At the sight of Mahendra hill he knew that he was near the other shore and he roared. 

The Vanaras on seeing Hanuman approaching them exhaled in joy. He alighted on the Mahendra hill to a rousing reception . Jambhavan expressed that Hanuman must be returning triumphant, as evidenced by the roar he is making. Jambhavan the elderly and Angada the Prince all welcoming him with great affection praised him for his braveness and devotion where by he brought back life to Rama, with that Sugreeva survived and as the King survived his subjects survived too, from the brink of starvation and death.  They all wished to hear a detailed account of his triumphant journey, not really satisfied of what Hanuman said briefly -- திருஷ்டா  தேவி .

Without minding the rhetoric Hanuman recounted all that happened in Ravana bhavana without omission and in the same sequence as they occurred.

There is no parallel to what Hanuman achieved and in fact the Lord who gave our body (கரண-களேபரம்), knowledge to discriminate right or wrong (விவேக ஞானம்) draws us all towards salvation (சரணாகதி) ultimately to end up in service to God and His men here and elsewhere . This body is otherwise a liability and misuse by propriety.

Namazhvar comprehends the same in his Thiruvoimozhi paasuram (3-3-1)

''ஒழிவில் காலமெல்லாம் உடனாய் மன்னி 

 வழுவிலா அடிமை செய்ய வேண்டும் நாம் ...''

By வழுவிலா அடிமை - blemishless service to the Lord - what He means is service at all times, in all states, in all places without break.

In Valmiki Ramayana there are several instances where the animals (Vanaras, squirrel) ), birds (Jataayu, Sampaati, Garuda) and humans (Guha, Sabhari) rendering selfless service to Rama born out of true nature of Self (ஸ்வரூப கிருத தாஸ்யம்) needlessly Rama, the gem of a person (குண கிருத தாஸ்யம்).

அஹமர்த்ததுக்கு ஞாநானந்தங்கள் தடஸ்தமென்னும்படி தாஸ்யமிறே அந்தரங்க நிரூபகம்.

இதுதான் வந்தேறியன்று.

அஹங்காரமாகிற ஆர்ப்பைத் துடைத்தால் ஆத்மாவுக்கு அழியாதபேர் அடியான் என்றிறே.(ஸ்ரீ.வ.பூ.74, 75,78).

Lanka in flames :

Hanuman is very fond of narrating the story of Rama time and again and seized the opportunity to give a brief account one more time of how Rama was exiled, why Lakshmana, His brother and wife Seeta followed Him to Dantaka, while living there how Seeta went missing  and at the request of Rama, Lakshmana, what made Sugreeva send his army of monkeys in all the four direction and he being his envoy, crossing the hundred yojana ocean had come to Lanka to search Seeta and while strolling around the city had found Seeta in Ravana's abode.

''So let not you dare any harm to Rama and restore Seeta to Him''. Giving this piece of advice Hanuman answered the purport and intent of his visit to Ravana. Hanuman is aware that advising the ill-fated Ravana may not  work wonders. When Seeta to whom the wrong is done chose to educate Ravana for his folly, why not Hanuman try the same at him?

Though a Rakshasa, he has his Dharma to follow. The fruits of righteousness does not co-exist with the result of unrighteousness. In the words of Sri Krishna, it is said as follows :

யத் சாஸ்திர விதி உத்ஸ்ருஜ்ய வர்த்ததே காமகாரத:

நச சித்திம் அவாப்நோதி -- கீதா ஸ்லோகம்.

''Defaulters of virtue, irrespective their birth, are in fact Asura and Ravana though a Brahmana by birth, aspiring Seeta, wife of another as his own by thought, words and deeds will obtain the fruits of unrighteousness inasmuch as the fruits of righteousness was enjoyed by him so far. The muscle and mind power alone will not suffice when the power of Dharma, that of God and Elders weigh against. Brahma, Swayambu or Indra will not be able to protect the one to be killed by Rama in the battle field'' --elicited Hanuman.

Hearing the unpalatable words of Hanuman, Ravana ordered him to be killed. Vibishana intervened to say that killing of a messenger is wrong and against Kingsley practise. Ravana however argued that capital punishment to the sinned is no sin. Yet agreeing to what Vibhishana said, finally decided to go about the right action commensurate with Royal Virtue.

There are several punishments intended for an envoy, who acts arrogant. Deforming of his limbs, whipping, head shaving, or leaving marks of ignominy on his person are some. 

''Perhaps the carnal punishments are due to those who sent this monkey here. Let him return and make your powers known to your adversaries'' - Vibishana prompted. Agreeing to what is said by his brother, Ravana insisting on some other punishment, wanted its tail to be burnt, as the ''pucham'' is considered to be the pretty portion of a monkey. 

Hearing those words the demons wrapped up rugged clothes around the tail of Hanuman and sprinkling oil set it on fire. Desiring it to be an opportunity to go round in day time, Hanuman kept quiet for them to drag through the city. 

Some of the demons reported the matter to Seeta and she with grief made prayers to the fire-God, pledging by Her devout service to Rama and Her faithfulness to Him said ''If Rama has little of kindness towards Me, let the fire be cool to Hanuman''. 

The fire-God is said to be the son of wind-God and Hanuman being another son of him, the brothers did good to each other, his tail shining with sharp flames, yet remained harmless to Hanuman. In fact he felt like a snowball kept at the tip of his tail and he considered that to be the grace of his Master, Lord Rama.

வேங்கடங்கள் மைமேல் வினைமுற்றவும் 

தாங்கள் தங்கட்க்கு நல்லனவே செய்வார் 

வேங்கடத் துறைவார்க்கு நம என்ன

லாம்கடமை அது சுமந்தார்கட்கே  (திருவாய்மொழி 3-3-6)

He who utters the words ''Oum Namo Venkatesaya'' as a duty cast on him for the benefit of his Soul, ward off the sins inherited from past births as well as subsequent ones as the same will be burnt out without any balance. Despite the Lord obliging this way, He feels it a burden to have done less than what is said in enormity by His devotee, which is unbearable to Him. 

பீஷாத்மா வாதப் பவதே பீஷோ அஸ்து ஸூர்ய: So declare the Scriptures.

The celestial objects when they carry on their duty with fear of reprimand by the Lord, the fire-God is obliged to act cool on Hanuman's tail, at the request of Seeta, His consort as well.  So much so Hanuman considered his mite has pleased the Lord to redress the burning nature out of fire in his tail. 

By another thought Hanuman using the blazing tail and jumping from mansion to mansion set the beautiful city on fire, barring the house of Vibishana. Seeing the blazing fire consuming the city with its trees, houses and the host of other creatures suddenly realised the mistake of setting the abode of Seeta as well on fire. 

''Alas!! What I have done. My angry deed has led to the ruin of the whole purpose of my visit.'' As Hanuman was cursing himself so, he heard the voice of two airborne SaraNas talking to themselves applauding Hanuman for what they would call it a miracle to set Lanka on flames, except the Asoka Vana where Seeta is and exclaimed ''what can fire do to fire of Seeta's chastity?''

Only at that did Hanuman breathe a sigh of relief.
